DR. TARUN PRAHARAJ has been associated with B. M. Birla Heart Research Centre since its inception (1989). He has been working as a full time Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Director, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory of B.M. Birla Heart Research Centre, Kolkata.

Dr. Praharaj is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Cardiology, Associate Fellow of the Philippine College of Cardiology, Former Clinical Research Fellow, Department of Interventional Cardiology & Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Philippines Heart Centre for Asia, Philippines and Visiting Fellow of the University Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York ,USA.

He had the opportunity to treat Mother Teresa in the years 1993 and 1996. On both the occasions she had undergone Angioplasty in B. M. Birla Heart Research Centre. He performs Coronary Angioplasty, Stenting and valvuloplasty regularly in this centre with special interest in high risk, complex coronary interventions.

He implanted a Drug Coated Stent on a 75 years old lady in 2002, which was the first time in India. In 2019 he received the Mother Teresa International Award from the Mother Teresa International Committee.
